"Wish You Were Here" Postcard Series
Art Show Illustration
ILLUSTRATOR: Jason Dillon
SHOW PRODUCERS: Olga Mosqueda, Bryan Mon
To celebrate Disneyland's 70th anniversary, Disney Consumer Products and the GC3 Sketch Club put on an art show that gathered together 40~ artists from across the company for an on-property gallery installation. For my piece, I created the "WISH YOU WERE HERE" POSTCARD SERIES to honor the icons of each land, both past and present, in its own postcard that would be placed and compiled together in the final piece that simulates the layout of the Resort's map.

It's In The Details
Due to the tight timeline and the sheer amount of postcards I put on myself, there was a lot of work to be done, but I rose to the challenge and still made every postcard feel loved, completed and full of hidden magic.
I embraced a fun, slightly wonky vector art style that still had a bit of retro flair. The angles, curves and colors become exaggerated to express the feeling each subject gives off while still staying true what it emulates.
Elements like the fireworks, clouds and brick and leaf patterns stay consistent across the entire series along with the postcard borders and header layout as to not distract the viewer when they're viewing the entire piece.

How We Got Here
With every project, the process is always the most important part. The successes, failures, twists and turns are all important learning lessons that make a project the best it can be.
This project had to be heavily planned out to make sure things stayed consistent across all the cards and to make sure that Olga and Bryan would understand my vision from the get-go! I started by creating the final frame layout first, then added the details to each card and finally finished them up in Illustrator. This project was a beast but ended up teaching me so much!
